Upload a Website and Point DNS

You can keep the domain registered with your current registrar. Add the site to Haven, upload its files, and change only the DNS records that control the website.

Before you upload

Add the domain under Websites in the Haven web panel . Include the www alias if you want both versions of the address to work.

Using WordPress? Open the website, select Quick Install App, choose WordPress, and complete the installer. You do not need to upload WordPress manually.

Upload the website files

  1. Sign in to the web panel and select File Manager in the sidebar.
  2. Open web → your-domain.com → public_html.
  3. Upload the site files, or upload a ZIP and extract it inside public_html.
  4. Confirm the main index.html or index.php is directly inside public_html.
  5. Back up and remove the default index file only when your replacement is ready.
  6. Open the domain in a browser and confirm the site loads.

If the archive creates public_html/my-site/index.html, move the contents of my-site up one level. The homepage file cannot stay inside that extra folder.

Point the domain to Haven

Open the DNS manager at the company where the domain is registered and use these records:

TypeNameTarget
ALIAS, ANAME, or flattened CNAME@webpanel.havendevelopment.net
CNAMEwwwwebpanel.havendevelopment.net

The hostname is preferred because Haven can keep the destination current without asking you to edit the record again.

If the DNS provider does not support a hostname at @, use an A record for @ pointing to 51.79.97.70. Keep www as the CNAME shown above.

  • Remove conflicting A, AAAA, CNAME, or forwarding records for @ and www.
  • Do not change nameservers unless you intend to move all DNS management.
  • Leave MX, SPF, DKIM, and other email records unchanged when email is hosted elsewhere.
  • On Cloudflare, keep the records set to DNS only until the site and SSL work.

DNS changes can take time to appear because providers and devices cache old answers.

Enable SSL

After the domain resolves to Haven, open the website in the panel, enable SSL for this domain, and save. Test both:

If the site does not load

  • Confirm the domain exists under Websites before changing DNS.
  • Confirm the files are in the correct domain’s public_html folder.
  • Confirm an index.html or index.php is directly in that folder.
  • Remove conflicting DNS records and wait for cached DNS to refresh.
  • Temporarily disable Cloudflare proxying while SSL is issued.
