Daily Rewards Troubleshooting

The Calendar Is Not Posted

• Confirm daily_rewards_channel is assigned through /setup.
• Confirm enabled is true.
• Grant View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, and Attach Files.
• Run /dailyrewards update and check the private response.
• Check startup logs for canvas, asset, config, or image-generation errors.

The Calendar Uses The Wrong Day

• Use a valid IANA value for settings.timezone.
• Invalid timezones fall back to UTC.
• Confirm settings.testing.enabled is false on a live server.
• In year-round mode, the plugin always uses the full current month.

The Calendar Is Paused

• When settings.yearRound is false, the current month must match activeMonth.
• Confirm the current date is between startDay and endDay.
• Remember that January is 1 and December is 12.

A Member Cannot Claim

• Confirm they are using the newest calendar message.
• Only the current configured day can be claimed.
• A member can claim once per calendar date when testing mode is off.
• Check the button cooldown and the configured event range.
• Confirm at least one rarity has a positive monthly chance and a non-empty reward pool.

A Role Reward Fails

• Replace the example role ID with a real role.
• Grant AthenaBot Manage Roles.
• Move AthenaBot’s role above the reward role.
• Managed integration roles cannot be assigned manually.

A Custom Background Does Not Load

• Store the file under plugins/daily_rewards/data/assets/.
• Use only a relative filename in monthly_assets.
• Confirm the extension and filename capitalization match.
• Check logs for the failed monthly asset name. The plugin falls back to the configured color.

The Scheduled Update Does Not Run

• Confirm settings.updateTime uses HH:mm.
• Confirm settings.updateCheckIntervalMs is a positive interval.
• Check the timezone and wait until the configured local update time.
• Run /dailyrewards update to confirm generation works outside the scheduler.

Dashboard Changes Do Not Match Local JSON5

Dashboard-backed MongoDB values can override the local file. Make the change in the Daily Rewards dashboard or confirm which source AthenaBot loaded before editing configuration/daily_rewards.json5 again.
