Rival Credits Setup

Requirements

  • AthenaBot 2.2.0 or newer
  • The core plugin enabled
  • A Minecraft server with RivalCredits installed
  • Minecraft RCON enabled and reachable from the AthenaBot host
  • The rcon-client Node package installed

Installation

  1. Place the plugin folder at plugins/rival_credits.
  2. Start AthenaBot once so it generates configuration/rival_credits.json5 and configuration/rival_credits_lang.json5.
  3. If the dependency installer does not run automatically, stop AthenaBot and install the RCON client:
npm install rcon-client
  1. Enable RCON in the Minecraft server’s server.properties.
  2. Add the RCON host, port, and password to the Rival Credits config.
  3. Restart AthenaBot.
  4. Run /rcredits test from Discord.

Minecraft RCON

In server.properties, set:

enable-rcon=true rcon.port=25575 rcon.password=USE_A_STRONG_PASSWORD

Then configure AthenaBot:

{ config: { enabled: true, rcon: { host: "127.0.0.1", port: 25575, password: "USE_A_STRONG_PASSWORD", timeout_ms: 5000 } } }

Use 127.0.0.1 only when AthenaBot and Minecraft run on the same server or container network. For Docker, Pterodactyl, or separate machines, use the reachable IP or DNS name for the Minecraft server. Do not use 0.0.0.0 as the RCON host in AthenaBot.

First Test

Run:

/rcredits test

By default the test sends the Minecraft list command over RCON. If it returns the online player list or another normal server response, the connection is working.

Staff Permissions

Start with balance checks open to members and changes limited to management:

permissions: { balance: "member", give: "management", remove: "management", set: "management", reset: "management", test: "management" }

After staff confirm the command templates work, adjust the permission tiers to match the server’s moderation or management roles.

Safe Launch Checklist

  • Confirm /rcredits test works.
  • Check /rcredits balance player:<name> on a known player.
  • Keep give, remove, set, and reset restricted to trusted staff.
  • Leave ephemeral_reply enabled for staff-only balance management.
  • Keep log_commands enabled while testing.
  • Leave log_rcon_responses disabled unless support asks for it.
