Rival Credits Troubleshooting
/rcredits test Says RCON Is Not Configured
- Set
rcon.host,rcon.port, andrcon.password. - Make sure
rcon.passwordis not stillCHANGE_ME. - Restart AthenaBot after changing local JSON5 files.
- If dashboard config is enabled, confirm the dashboard value is not overriding the local file.
Connection Refused
- Confirm
enable-rcon=trueinserver.properties. - Confirm
rcon.portis the RCON port, not the Minecraft game port. - Check firewalls, Docker ports, Pterodactyl allocations, and security groups.
- Use a host/IP the bot can reach. Do not use
0.0.0.0as the client target.
Authentication Failed
- Check that
rcon.passwordmatches exactly in Minecraft and AthenaBot. - Restart the Minecraft server after changing
server.properties. - Avoid extra spaces around the password.
Invalid Minecraft Username
- The default username pattern is Java-style names: 3-16 letters, numbers, and underscores.
- If the server uses Geyser/Floodgate prefixes or custom names, update
player_name_pattern.
Balance Does Not Parse Cleanly
- The raw server response is still shown in the embed.
- Update
response_parsing.balance_regexso the first capture group returns the balance number from your RivalCredits response. - Test with a player who has a known balance.
Commands Run But Credits Do Not Change
- Confirm the command templates match the RivalCredits commands installed on your Minecraft server.
- Do not include a leading slash in
commands.give,commands.remove,commands.set, orcommands.reset. - Try the same command directly in the Minecraft console to confirm the RivalCredits plugin accepts it.
General Checks
- Confirm the plugin folder is
plugins/rival_credits. - Check AthenaBot startup logs for config load or RCON handler errors.
- Keep
log_commandsenabled during setup so you can see what AthenaBot sends. - Enable
log_rcon_responsesonly while debugging, then turn it back off.
