Social Actions Troubleshooting
GIFs Do Not Load
- Confirm the startup log reports Social Actions v1.0.2.
- Allow outbound HTTPS access to
https://nekos.best. - Check whether Nekos.best is available from the bot host.
- Review the AthenaBot error report logged after the failed command.
Version 1.0.2 sends the User-Agent required by Nekos.best and stops each request after 10 seconds. A failed request uses warnings.api_error from social_actions-lang.json5.
Commands Are Missing
Social Actions adds 23 global commands. Discord limits an application to 100 global commands.
- Check the startup log for the global command count or a Discord API error.
- Disable commands or plugins you do not need if the application exceeds the limit.
- Restart AthenaBot after making room so it can register the command list again.
The Target Does Not Receive a Notification
- Set
config.ping_target_usertotrueinconfiguration/social_actions.json5. - Restart AthenaBot after changing the file.
- Confirm the command targets another member. Self-actions do not send a target notification.
Set the option to false if you want the embed to show the target mention without notifying them.
Buttons Do Not Work
- Set
config.buttons_enabledtotrue. - Use the account targeted by the current action. Other members cannot use the buttons.
- Confirm the bot can send messages and edit its message in the channel.
- Check the startup log for
Successfully registered event socialActionButton.
The Reject Emoji Shows as a Robot
AthenaBot returns a robot emoji when it cannot find the requested application emoji.
- Use the exact placeholder
%custom_emoji_29%for the default reject icon. - Check the startup log for the application-emoji fetch and verification messages.
- Let AthenaBot restore missing required application emojis before testing the button again.
You can replace the custom placeholder with a Unicode emoji if needed.
Self-Actions Are Blocked
Set config.allow_self_action to true. When disabled, the plugin uses warnings.self_action_denied from the language config.
A Config File Fails to Load
- Check commas, quotes, and braces in both JSON5 files.
- Keep the config names as
social_actionsandsocial_actions-lang. - Restore the matching templates from the plugin release if a field is missing.
- Restart AthenaBot and read the first config error in the startup log.
