Installation
- Place the plugin folder at
plugins/thread_watcher. - Start AthenaBot once so it generates:
configuration/thread_watcher.json5configuration/thread_watcher_lang.json5
- Stop AthenaBot and open the dashboard or the generated main config.
- Add forum or media channel IDs to
forum_channel_idswhen every post in a channel should stay open. - Add individual post or thread IDs to
thread_idswhen only selected threads should stay open. - Confirm
command_permissionmatches a key inconfiguration/permission.json5. - Restart AthenaBot and run
/threadwatch list. - Run
/threadwatch checkto perform the first recovery scan.
Athena needs Manage Threads to reopen archived threads and change archive
timers. Forum-wide protection also needs View Channel and Read Message History so archived posts can be discovered.
Add Targets From Discord
Administrators can add targets without editing the config:
- Run
/threadwatch addinside a forum post or thread to protect the current thread. - Run
/threadwatch add target:<forum>to protect every post in a forum. - Run
/threadwatch add target:<thread>to protect one thread.
Targets added with the command are stored in Athena’s database. Dashboard or JSON5 targets remain separate, and a target can be protected by both sources.
Recommended First Launch
- Set
dry_runtotrue. - Add one test forum or thread.
- Run
/threadwatch statusin the target. - Run
/threadwatch checkand review the scan results. - Confirm Athena reports that it can manage the target.
