PluginsHoneypotOverview

Honeypot

Honeypot watches one restricted Discord channel and automatically acts on members who send a message there. It can delete the trigger message, notify the member, apply a punishment, and send a detailed incident log.

  • Version in source: 1.1.0
  • Required AthenaBot version: 2.2.0 or newer
  • Dependencies: core
  • Optional dependency: moderation for Athena moderation mutes
  • Node dependencies: None
  • Config templates: English and German

Mutes use Athena’s moderation system by default. Set punishment.mute_method to discord if you want a direct Discord timeout instead.

When To Use It

Use Honeypot as a tripwire for compromised or automated scam accounts. The channel warning tells legitimate members not to post, while any message sent there can trigger the action you configured.

Test the selected action with a disposable member account before enabling it in a live server. Role hierarchy and missing permissions can prevent Discord or Athena moderation actions from being applied.
