Predictions Setup

Requirements

• AthenaBot 2.2.0 or newer
• The core plugin enabled
• A default prediction channel
• An optional staff log channel
• No extra Node packages

Installation

1. Place the predictions folder in plugins/.
2. Start AthenaBot once to generate configuration/predictions.json5.
3. Use /setup to assign predictions_default_channel.
4. Assign predictions_log_channel if staff should receive activity logs.
5. Review wager, reward, streak, and permission settings.
6. Restart AthenaBot after changing the local config.
7. Create a test prediction, vote from a member account, lock it, and resolve it.

Discord Permissions

AthenaBot needs:

• View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links in prediction channels
• The same permissions in the optional log channel
• Manage Roles for winner and milestone role rewards
• A bot role above every reward role it needs to assign

Recommended Permission Setup

The command permission controls access to /prediction. The action-specific permissions are checked again before management actions run.

First Prediction

Run a command similar to:

/prediction create question:Will we reach the goal? answers:Yes|No lock_after:30m

Answers are separated with |. The channel option is optional: the plugin uses predictions_default_channel, then the current channel if no default is set.

Safe Wager Test

1. Use a small wagers.max_wager and a disposable member account.
2. Place a vote with /prediction vote and confirm coins are deducted.
3. Change the vote and confirm the previous wager is handled as configured.
4. Resolve the correct answer and verify the wager return, profit, XP, and coins.
5. Create another prediction and cancel it from the dashboard to test refunds.
